Plans were made on Friday to turn Centennial High School into the incident command post for the fire. That plan would keep personal and resources closer to the threatened structures on the mountain. An estimated 700 to 800 firefighters would camp at the high school.<\/p>\n
Crews from the Nevada Division of Forestry have been stationed in the\u00a0neighborhoods of Kyle Canyon as well as at the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort in Lee Canyon. The ski resort has been providing support to the crews as well as thousands of gallons of water from their snow making reservoir. Crews have also been utilizing the resort’s chairlifts to reach the peak of the mountain.<\/p>\n
On Friday, multiple tankers unloaded retardant on the range from Charleston Peak to Griffith Peak for precautionary measures.<\/p>\n
Roads still remain closed going into Mount Charleston.<\/p>\n
As of Friday night, there were no injuries or damage to buildings reported.<\/p>\n
