The Bureau of Land Management is currently battling a large wildfire on Mount Charleston. The fire started on Monday and is believed to have been started by lightning.
The fire is located near Lee Springs in the Carpenter Canyon area on the Pahrump side of Mount Charleston. Trout Canyon Road at State Route 160 is now closed. Approximately 1,000 acres of land have been burned so far.
Dry brush and juniper trees are fueling the fire and the dry weather conditions are not helping to extinguish the fire. Currently a tanker, helicopter and four fire engines are working to put out the fire.
