When the weather gets hot in the Las Vegas valley, many residents head up to Mt. Charleston to escape the heat. The mountain provides plenty to do and the temperatures are usually 30 degrees cooler.
Since July 4th is coming up, many people decide to go camping or picnicking in Lee Canyon or Kyle Canyon. Please note that no fireworks are allowed in the entire Spring Mountains area.
Possession or use of all fireworks, including “safe and sane fireworks”, is illegal in the Spring Mountains area which includes all of Mt. Charleston.
Per the USFS, “It is against the law to discharge or ignite a firecracker, or other explosive on the forest, federal code regulations, 261.16(f) and 261.52(f). Both are chargeable by up to six months in jail or up to a $5,000 fine or both.”
Law enforcement patrols will be saturating the area looking for any fireworks on the mountain. Play safe and stay out of trouble; don’t bring fireworks to Mt. Charleston!
