On Thursday Sep. 13, a drug task force removed 533 mature marijuana plants hidden in the forest of Mt. Charleston. The bust was valued at over $500,000 and was located about 20 miles north of State Route 159. This was the third outdoor marijuana grow that was found in Clark County this year.
The task force which is composed of members from Metro, North Las Vegas, DEA, USFS, and BLM found the grow after receiving reports of suspicious activity in the area. Using a helicopter, they airlifted the marijuana out of the area.
Although no suspects were present, numerous people were seen fleeing on foot as the task force approached. Future arrests may be eminent as the officers recovered a fair amount of evidence.
