Below are photos taken today of Kyle Canyon. These photos were taken between 11am amd 1pm before we were rushed off of the mountain due to increasing winds which caused the fire to move rapidly towards our only way out; State Route 157.
Currently no structures have been lost, but as you can see, the back burn fire and fire line is very close to the structures in the Rainbow community.

- The Mt. Charleston Resort. The fire is right behind.
- Forest on fire near Cathedral Rock
- The Cathedral Picnic Area.
- Fire line near Cathedral Rock. Crews ran a hose about a quarter mile up the hill, cleared the path, removed branches and cleared dead brush.
- Buildings near the Visitor’s Center are wrapped to prevent them from burning.
- Hotshot Crews clean their tools before heading back out.
- Crews heading out after lunch.
- Miles of hose stretch throughout the forest.
- Crews hiking on the fire line right behind Rainbow.
- Crews hiking south of Rainbow.
- Firefighters putting out a fire behind Rainbow.
- A structure just feet away from the fire line and back burn area.
- The smoke caused very limited visibility driving down the mountain.
- The smoke makes it very hard to breathe and see.
