A section of State Route 158 near Mount Charleston will be closed starting Tuesday, March 26 while Nevada Department of Transportation workers cut into the hillsides to expand roadways and parking lots.
State Route 158 will be closed from Deer Creek Picnic Area to the intersection of State Route 156 from 7 a.m. Tuesday until 7 p.m. Friday, department officials said.
During that time, Transportation Department workers will be cutting into the face of the mountain to create sightlines between oncoming traffic and the nearby parking lot. Both Deer Creek Picnic Area and State Route 156 will remain open, officials said.
Motorists attempting to go across the mountain from Lee Canyon to Kyle Canyon must use U.S. 95, officials said.
